broken but charming

An abstract shot of falling apart shutters of a house called Kokkinospito (the red house) - an allegedly haunted house on the island of Syros.

The red house of Syros is a dilapidated two story house in the village of Episkopio.

The house is considered to be a haunted and sinful house, which inspired M. Karagatsis novel namely The Great Chimera.

According to the legend, Marina Baré, a French woman who was married with Syriano captain Giannis Reizis, found consolation in the arms of Minas, her brother in law, since she could not stand the loneliness.
Marina and Giannis lost their daughter Anna from pneumonia. By which time she was already pregnant with Minas' child.

Her mother-in-law drove away Minas after the funeral of her granddaughter.

Minas then committed suicide and Giannis was informed of the scandal and tragedies as he returned to Syros.

All this led Marina also to commit suicide.

Ever since, the house has been left abandoned as no one ever found the legal heirs.

Many believe that the house still has bad energy and argue that whoever disturbed the peace and dared to move the furniture, died tragically under unsolved circumstances while others believe that these are myths!
